Hello everyone and welcome or welcome back to my blog! I hope you're all doing well. Today I want to talk about online shopping--do you think it will become the new norm?
With the pandemic, so many things have changed. I know a lot of people are still at home like me, and a lot of others such as doctors and nurses, grocery store workers, etc., are out working everyday.
Some businesses have also reopened with lessened restrictions.
Before all of this, I ordered things online occasionally, but I went to the store a lot. I love Target, and I spent many days going to Target after work, on the weekends, etc., to pick up essentials, clothing, and more. I can't remember the last time I stepped foot in Target.
Malls also give me anxiety, but I used to work in one back on the day, and I did enjoy going to the mall on occasion especially during early weekdays or weeknights when it was slow to do a little shopping and browse new arrivals at my favorite stores.
I loved trying things on in person and the accessibility of getting items I wanted instantly.
Since working from home, I order online far more than I used to. I use Postmates more, order groceries through Instacart, and I order some essentials such as shaving cream and pads from Amazon.
Right before quarantine, I ordered this cute Gymshark set in the photo above, and it's one of my favorite purchases.
I haven't ordered any new clothing in quarantine, but I've definitely created some wishlists, and I plan for my future purchases to be online.
If you read my Marc Jacobs purse review, then you know I recently purchased that bag online. I enjoy ordering online because it's quick and easy.
Looking on my favorite retailers websites, I can also browse endless amounts of products from the comfort of my home sitting on the couch, and I don't have to deal with clerks or other customers.
With ordering online, you don't have the ease of trying something on and leaving it in the fitting room, but a lot of stores do free shipping and returns making things just as accessible and simple.
It's also exciting getting things in the mail as it's like waiting on a little present you got for yourself.
With online shopping, I find it easier to access a store’s coupons and deals as well as they're often listed at the top of the website or in a popup, so I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.
There are online stores that still do price matching as well, so you can essentially get all the same deals you would get in stores at a lot of places online.
Even with businesses and places opening up, I currently don't feel comfortable going out and about like I used to.
When my favorite stores all open up as well as stores I haven't been to but want to visit, I don't know how long it will take for me to feel comfortable going in them again.
With the ease and accessibility of online shopping, I also don't feel a huge need to go in stores to get the things I want or need. I can just have them sent to me.
Of course I still miss the ease of trying something on and leaving it at the store if I don't want it as well as getting my favorite snacks from the food court, but my concerns are still the same, and I think it would take some time for me to go back to that lifestyle if I chose to at all.
What are your thoughts on online shopping versus in stores?
Will you be going to all of your favorite stores as soon as they open, or do you think you'll need some time to readjust?
Do you shop online? How have your experiences been?
