Hello everyone and welcome or welcome back to my blog! In today's post, I want to share what helps me relax and unwind during the current times we're in. There's a global pandemic and a civil rights movement happening, and there's a lot going on.
Things can get overwhelming taking them all in at once, and I have to remind myself to unplug and unwind even if only for a little bit. Here are some ways I do that:
1) Exercise! I typically exercise at least 4 times a week, and it really helps to lift my mood. I create my own dance choreography and teach myself popular dances to music videos as well.
It's a great way to burn calories and get my heart rate up, and it genuinely lifts my mood while I'm doing it.
2) Watch fun things on TV.
I've watched some documentaries and serious movies lately, but I've also watched cartoons and fun shows and videos that make me happy and lift my mood. Some of these include Avatar: The Last Airbender and World of Dance.
3) I treat myself.
I haven't gone on a crazy shopping spree, but I bought myself a new perfume, a few new clothing pieces a few weeks ago, and have recently supported some black owned businesses and can't wait to try my new products.
4) Listen to good music.
I like to listen to music that makes me want to dance or that lifts my mood. Chloe x Halle's new album is one that I've had on repeat lately.
5) Work on self care.
I've been doing my nails a lot with the nail tools and supplies my boyfriend got me, and sometimes I'll do a face mask to help me unwind. I also love using face mist as it makes me feel refreshed.
Bonus: Go outside!! Get some fresh air, walk around your neighborhood, or go to the park. It's fun, refreshing, and getting fresh air and sunshine is great.
