Black Lives Matter

Updated: Jun 4

Hello everyone and welcome or welcome back to my blog. It's been a while since I've posted, and I needed to take a break with everything that's been going on in the world.

In this post, I'm not going to educate you on the current movement for Black Lives Matter. I'm not going to go into the history of our country or recount all of the injustices that have been done and that are still occurring.

I will however share where you can support the movement, brands who have spoken up or shown support, and what black owned brands you can support. With all of the information I share, this is not all of the information or resources out there, so research for more if you're interested.

Where to Support:

Black Lives Matter Petitions

Justice for George Floyd Petition

We Can't Breathe Petition

Breonna Taylor Petition

Justice for Ahmaud Arbery Petition

Raise the Degree Petition

Places You Can Donate:

This article has a list of places you can donate.

Another article with a list of places and ways to donate.

Another list of places to donate and contribute.

Brands who have spoken and/or donated (may not be all) I made a note or two next to some of the brands with extra information I have or how I feel about the brand right now:

Gymshark—spoke up and made a large donation

Jeffree Star Cosmetics

Laura Mercier—took a long time to post. Unsure of where I stand.

Windsor—took a long time to post. Unsure how I feel about continuing to support them.

Fashion Nova—took a long time to post but pledged to donate and said they were working on their plan/objective on participating behind the scenes.

Missguided—took a long time to post. Unsure how I feel about them.

Forever 21

Zara—took a long time to post. Unsure how I feel about them.

H&M—took a long time to post and said they’re donating. I’m currently no longer supporting them for a number of reasons that we don't have time to cover today.

Dolls Kill** they showed support after backlash. I’m not going to go into it here, but I definitely will not be supporting them. You can search what happened.

Again, some of these companies posted right away, some took a long time to post, and some only posted after backlash. Some donated while some have not yet reported donations to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Black owned brands to support:

There are many more. I may share more in a different post.
